The Hybrid Foundation is designed to give you the best start to your Hybrid Training. It’s the most common problem with this type of training - how on earth do you get started? I’ve created this training to specifically solve this problem. it doesn’t matter if you come from a purely strength background, or from a purely endurance based background. Your Hybrid Foundation phase will be tailored to turn you into the most complete athlete possible.

Build & Maintain Strength
Over the course of the Foundation you’ll build and maintain generalised, full body strength that is based around the 3 main lifts of Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. Having this strength base will then allow you the flexibility to push into many other areas of the strength training world.

Build & Maintain Endurance
During your Hybrid Foundation, we will have a core focus on getting you to become a better runner - avoiding many of the mistakes that new runners make. The focus is on building your aerobic base and running economy across two training phases - a speed phase followed by an endurance phase, where we focus on improving your 5km time before we switch to a half marathon approach.

Every budding Hybrid Athlete I speak to asks the same question - how do I get started?
The answer I always have to give, is "it depends”.
Annoying, I know, because if it was as straight forward as being able to create a programme and put it all in a single document, then I would have done it by now!
Your first few months as a Hybrid Athlete should be entirely based around what background you are entering from - you can still train concurrently for strength, speed & endurance, but the day to day of what your training looks like will be different depending on whether you’re starting from a more dominant strength or endurance training background.

First of all, unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you’ll already know that the Hybrid Foundation has been the missing piece of the puzzle for so many people to finally bring everything together that creates a Hybrid Athlete in a way that works.
I created it because I wanted to make a programme that has a lasting impact on everyone that goes through it.
And what better way to do that than to focus on the abilities that make a Hybrid Athlete what they are:

The new look Hybrid Foundation retains it’s core mission of building your Foundation, but with the following change:
1 Programme, 2 Distinct Training Phases.
Phase 1: Strength & Speed (3 months)
With an initial focus on the 5km distance, this training phase is about learning the new format of training to go after or set a new 5km PB 🏃🏻♂️
During this phase, we have a focus on building your full body strength with elements of powerlifting and functional bodybuilding, whilst also delving into your nutrition to make sure we are making you into the most efficient athlete we can (note, this isn’t a strict “fat loss” approach, but it will get you looking, moving and feeling a hell of a lot better).
Whilst this phase still places a large emphasis on the aerobic energy system, we also want to work on improving your 5km time to make you into an efficient runner.
“Speed is a tide that lifts all ships”.
You’ll finish this initial phase with “Test Week 1”: a Deadlift PB attempt and a 5km PB.
Phase 2: Strength & Endurance (3 Months)
Building off the initial phase, this is when we switch up to longer endurance based work whilst maintaining as much speed as possible. We also switch to a more focused strength system to further hone your abilities.
This phase ends with “Test Week 2”: A Full Powerlifting Total and a timed Half Marathon Trail Run.
The Hybrid Foundation is the ultimate 6 months of Hybrid Training all in the same programme.
It doesn’t matter if you’re starting from more of a strength background or an endurance background - you all finish the programme as a more “complete” Hybrid Athlete, with a far more developed understanding and education of how to train yourself effectively for all the things that matter.
This isn’t a group programme either - you’re coached individually by myself and will have your own coaching calls with myself to guide you in your individual training programmes, but, you’re all part of the same team.

Expert Hybrid Training
The bedrock of turning you into a Hybrid Athlete is understanding how to combine Strength & Endurance capabilities in a way that is sustainable for you over the long term.
The Hybrid Foundation is designed to meet you where you are currently at, to make sure you develop your strength & endurance concurrently.
You’ll demonstrate this twice over the course of the process, firstly with a deadlift and 5km run PB in the same week, and then at the end with a full Powerlifting Total and half marathon effort.
Hybrid Nutrition
Nutrition is an area that can make or break your training outcomes, and everyone we work with has their own bespoke “nutritional overview” document created by an MNU Qualified Nutritionist.
We also equip you with the knowledge of how to strategically fuel yourself properly for ultra endurance events, including how to prepare, execute and recover. This will be practised on simulation events in your training in the build up to test week.
We like to place a big emphasis on helping you manage your training, nutrition and recovery around your life.

With more than 10 years of coaching experience, this is at the heart of what we do.
As a coaching company, we wouldn’t be doing our job properly if you didn’t feel like you were supported through this process.
This isn’t a group coaching programme. You’re all on the same team, but coached individually & at your own level.
That’s why we have the 1:1 Coaching support throughout your time on the Hybrid Foundation to make sure you are succeeding, with daily contact and in person individual coaching calls. And, unlike some online coaching companies, we cap our coaching slots to 50 clients at any one time, meaning you get our complete attention.
